Water, Water Everywhere - and Nor a Drop to Drink

Songs of water: Traffic "Hidden Treasure" from 1971 Low Spark of Highheeled Boys, "Hurricane Waters" by Richie Havens from 2008, Bob Dylan's "The Times They are a Changin'" you better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone from 1964 and Laura Nyro's "Save the Country" Come on down to the glory river from 1969. From his own label on Shelter Records, Leon Russel sings the "Ballad For a Soldier" in 1968 and from Bob Dylan's newest album The Tempest we hear about the power and greed of the "Early Roman Kings", a blues ballad. Richie Havens wrote the song "Fates" and Joni Mitchell sings that you don't know what you got till it's gone on "Big Yellow Taxi". She wrote a song based on Rudyard Kipling's "If" from her Shine album in 2007. And finally from Van Morrison's most recent recording we hear "If in Money We Trust".
